The Biodiversity Conservation in the Sierra Madre Oriental and the Gulf of Mexico (known as Sierra y Mar) project strengthens the capacities of National Commission of Protected Areas (CONANP, Spanish acronym) in 14 protected areas (PAs). During 2022, Sierra y Mar financed the procurement of vehicles and radio communication equipment and the placement of 50 signs for the PAs, with the purpose of strengthening the actions of surveillance, biological monitoring, environmental education, and attention to visitors. As part of its communication strategy, Sierra y Mar developed a catalog of materials to guide and strengthen PAs in disseminating project achievements from now into the future, even after the closure of donor oversight in 2023.
