The Sustainable Financing for New Protected Areas (FINANP, Spanish acronym) project seeks to ensure that the protected areas (PAs) have effective management and strengthen their connectivity and sustainable financing strategies. During 2022, Mexican Fund for the Conservation of Nature (FMCN, Spanish acronym) held strategic planning workshops for the three PAs that will be supported by the project, all of which are managed by the National Commission of Protected Areas (CONANP, Spanish acronym). FINANP will formally start with field activities during the second half of 2023, thanks to financing from KfW Development Bank.
