The project implemented by the organization Cuenca de Los Ojos (CLO) aims to ensure the long-term conservation of nine private ranches certified as voluntary conservation areas (ADVC, Spanish acronym) in northern Sonora. Thanks to funding from the Wyss Foundation and other donors, CLO staff have been trained in sustainable ranch management, which has benefited the nearly fifty thousand hectares covered by ADVCs in the region. In 2022, CLO carried out biodiversity monitoring activities to understand the conservation status of the region's grasslands, collaborated with primary schools to disseminate the importance of water care, and trained its team to respond to fires.
